A Season of Service
As we do every year around this time, we spend as much time as we can giving thanks with our family and friends, while we celebrate the tidings of the season. It is also a time of year to give back to our communities and those who may be less fortunate than us. As healthcare professionals, you already give of yourselves through the amazing care and compassion that you provide to your patients every day, and as a valuable member of the Supplemental Health Care team, we are hoping you join us in our Season of Service.
This year, Supplemental Health Care is teaming up with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) for the month of December, and all SHC team members are encouraged to participate in locally organized activities. There are 365 Ronald McDonald Houses in the United States and another 225 Ronald McDonald House Rooms. These nearly 600 facilities allow family members to stay together while a loved one receives medical treatment, alleviating the added financial stress of staying in a different city.
On December 1st, the Kansas City local office started things off by completing a holiday project at their local Ronald McDonald House. Seven members of the KC team (Alex Otto, Asia Perry, Charles Love, Christie Hurd, Kasey Feldt, Mary Lucas, and Nicole Eggermont) dressed up in their favorite holiday elf attire and decorated the Ronald McDonald House. They also brought Christmas cookies and treats for the employees and families staying at the house. It was a memorable way to spread some holiday cheer with RMHC and their guests.
All of these holiday activities are going to have an immeasurable impact on the lives of so many this season. From the Ronald McDonald House staff who are working tirelessly for the families, they support to the incredibly strong families who are worried about a loved one, time spent in service is an investment in caring and representative of what Supplemental Health Care is all about. Thank you for participating in this year’s Season of Service, and we look forward to hearing about the wonderful activities and events you take part in this holiday season.
